Competition Information
This competition is designed to allow local filmmakers the opportunity to create new work and premiere it on the big screen in a film festival environment. There will be prizes awarded to the top three shorts as judged by a committee of local artists.
Timeline for the Competition
July 17 @ 5:00pm – the sign-up sheet for participation will be closed.
July 18 @ 5:00pm – an email will be sent out to all participants explaining the “theme” of the competition. The theme must be addressed in some way within every short.
July 21 @ 5:00pm – all shorts must be turned in at the Myrna Loy Center box office in either DVD or mini-DV format.
August 4 @ 8:00pm – all shorts that were delivered to the Myrna Loy on time and are found to be in good standing with respect to the competition rules will be screened in the auditorium of the Myrna Loy Center.
Competition Rules
- Shorts can be a maximum of six minutes – including credits.
- All shorts must be delivered to the Myrna Loy Center in a DVD format.
- The name of the participant and title of the piece must be clearly written on the media when it is delivered.
- Shorts must be rated PG-13 – the Myrna Loy Center reserves the right to disqualify any short it deems unsuitable for a general audience.
- Shorts can be made in any genre or style as long as the “theme” is addressed within the piece.
- The short must originate between the dates of July 18th and July 21st – the Myrna Loy Center reserves the right to disqualify any short that appears to have been completed prior to the July 18th start date.
