The Seldom Scene is one of America’s most outstanding, influential bluegrass bands. For 35 years the Seldom Scene has thrived on playing bluegrass a little differently than everyone else. If other bands used a fiddler, the Seldom Scene used a Dobro; if others relied on old standards, the Seldom Scene played rock classics like J.J. Cale's “After Midnight.” Through skilled musicianship and an urban approach to bluegrass, the Seldom Scene has become one of the most influential bluegrass bands of our time. Their latest CD, “SCENEchronized,” was nominted for a 2008 Grammy Award for Best Bluegrass Album.
"The Seldom Scene has a sound like no other. They really gave bluegrass another texture, another gear. " Emmylou Harris "The stunning combination of Duffey’s soaring tenor with Starling’s world-weary baritone was an instant hit. The original Seldom Scene became renowned as much for vocal excellence as for instrumental wizardry.” Sing Out!
